Assignment 4- Final Images

Part1:
Suicide crime scene :

Composition:
Framing: . All the pictures I clicked have the whole body of the subject, and also gives a good idea of the place/space. The framing played a very integral part in the picture, for example in the large picture on the left I have included the whole building in the frame along with the subjects whole body to narrate the story behind the incident.
Prospective and point of view: This picture has 3 different pictures put together. I wanted to show the subject from 3 different angles, to show the space where the incident occurred and to show the seriousness of the picture.
Amount of subject to show in the picture: For any crime scene photograph it is really important to get the full body of the subject along with its space. The viewers of the picture should be able to fell as if they were at the crime scene.

Concept/Aboutness/Idea:
I was sitting in my apartment next to the window, when the idea stuck me to take a picture like this. I used masking take to make an outline of the subject on the road. Then I took a few  a few pictures of just the outline without the subject, but I felt the need to make the photograph even more intense. Then I took pictures of the subject along with the outline to show the incident just took place a few minutes back and make the audience serious.

Method/motivation:
The prompt Crime Scene gave birth to this idea of taking a suicide scene picture, and also the few  websites which were given with the prompt for inspiration. I then further used my creativity to enhance the original Idea.

Context:
This image is to show an intense suicide scene. By looking at this picture, one can feel the serious mood of the space/incident and also see the story in the picture.

Part 2:

Comments from my classmates:
Great angles,  photo has an old look to it, also the blood spill effect on the picture adds a lot to it. I could probably work with the placement of the pictures and make it better.

Part1:
Kenneth Cole Advertisement:

Composition:
Placement of subject in the frame: I clicked this image such to put the subject in the of center of the the image. The reason behind this was to give the picture a commercial look, and not a snap shot look. The other reason was to leave enough space to place text on the picture.
Orientation (portrait or landscape): I have clicked a landscape photograph to get the rustic/brick background in the picture, and to avoid saturating the picture with the subject alone. One reason was, so that I could add text in the picture.
Lighting: This picture looks appealing just because of lighting. The light we see in this picture is natural and falls right on the subjects face and the product. As we look further to the right of the picture, it gets darker. This also gives the picture a sense of beginning and end.

Concept/Aboutness/Idea:
I tried to create a coat advertisement in this image by big designer brands like Kenneth Cole. I  showed only the coat and the models face in the picture, which makes it clear as an advertisement. Also the attitude of the model gives it a strong effect.

Method/motivation:
My motivations behind this image were the daily banners, website advertisements I see everyday. I tried to mimic the photography style of such brands.

Context:
This image is an advertisement to sell the coat and for brand popularity.

Part 2:

Comments from my classmates:
Great image. The background and product goes really well with the brands image of Kenneth Cole. The text does not stand clearly, as its merging with the background. I should make a black strip at the bottom of the image and then put the text on that.

Part1:
Crime from a camera's eye:

Composition:
Framing: Framing played a very important part in this image. I included the window and the subject in the frame, and also the angle of the picture is really different. This makes the image self explanatory about the incident.
Focus: My focus in this picture is on the body, which makes the window slightly blurry.
Orientation (portrait or landscape): I clicked a portrait photograph to get the frame along with the subject. And also to make the image look different with a different angle.

Concept/Aboutness/Idea:
I was sitting in my apartment next to the window, when the idea stuck me to take a picture like this. I used masking take to make an outline of the subject on the road. Part 2:

Comments from my classmates:
Great angle,  photo has an old look to it. The photo could be presented portrait or landscape, although portrait makes it look more interesting.

Part1:
A flower about to blow with the winds:

Composition:
Photographers proximity to the subject : This picture was taken from a very close distance. The closest I could go to the subject with my lens. I did this to get the tiniest details of the flower.
Focus: My focus in this picture was on the flower, which is really prominent to see because of the shallow depth of field.
Sharpness and blur: I clicked this image using a telephoto lens. I also used a small aperture, which gave the picture a shallow depth of field, making the flower very clear and the surroundings blurred.

Concept/Aboutness/Idea:
I clicked the image to show a small flower which is really weak and could blow away with the wind anytime. This is to show how in reality there are people who are really soft and weak compared to others, and also stay secluded from all. These people are prone to get heart from other strong invisible powers like the wind here in the picture.

Method/motivation:
My motivations behind this image was my interest in clicking close ups of small nature elements like flowers, insects, leaves etc.

Context:
This image is to show a little flower in between the grass, which won't be able to stand the strong winds.

Part 2:

Comments from my classmates:
Great close-up, very crisp of the flower and blurred surroundings. Great work with burning and dodging.
