#4: “If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera.” ~Lewis Hine

Do you agree or disagree with this quote? Why? Describe situations when photographic images reveal “the story” (as compared to words). Describe situations when words reveal “the story” (as compared to images).

I totally agree with Lewis Hine

Do's quote. There is a very famous proverb "A picture tells a thousand words". Let me give a very simple example: When I was in High School, I had a French oral exam in which I was supposed to describe a picture as much I can in 15 minutes. I would say, I used to describe about 15-10% of the picture in that much time. I think it would be practically impossible to describe each and every detail of a picture by words. In our daily lives Newspapers, Magazines can be considered as a good example to see how pictures can be a lot more effective to understand and interpret then words.
Although I would say pictures do have a limitation, pictures do capture all the physically visible things in a frame. But what about feelings and emotions, then the role of "words" come. Words are the only source to describe feelings and emotions.
